Beauty Bar: Sunblock Smoothie Recipe
If you’re lounging by the pool, hitting the beach, or dancing the weekend away at Coachella, chances are you’ll be soaking up some mega sun rays.
We all know it’s important to topically apply sunscreen (always do!), but have you heard that you can also EAT + DRINK additional skin protection by flooding your body with antioxidants?
These amazing compounds found in foods like berries, beans, and artichokes can boost skin protection and reduce sunburn redness by 40%!
So before moving from the shade to the sun, gather Berry Bliss, Coconut Bliss, goji berries, strawberries, mango, carrot juice, coconut water, and nut milk to whip up this absolutely delicious Sunscreen Smoothie!
Gather This:
- 1/2 cup nut milk
- 1/4 cup coconut water
- 1/4 cup carrot juice
- 3/4 cup frozen mango
- 3-4 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tablespoon Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend
- 1 tablespoon Coconut Bliss Coconut Butter
- 1 teaspoon goji berries
- 1/2 cup ice
Do This:
Toss all ingredients into a blender, and pulse until thick and creamy. Add more ice or nut milk as needed. Top with unsweetened coconut flakes + goji berries. Enjoy!

Hi Nancy,
I appreciate your thoughts and did not in any way mean to imply that a smoothie alone will protect you from the sun’s rays—only that it can be an additional layer of protection (I edited my post to clarify)! I encourage everyone to use sunscreen and cover up, but to also eat and drink antioxidant-rich foods :)
xoxo,
Sophie
I think it’s absolutely insane and irresponsible that you would tell people that they can block the damage of the sun through your smoothie. I’ve had skin cancer – you have to use sun block and stay out of the sun, FULL STOP. Food will NOT protect you, and neither will your melanin, from the damage of the sun! This is just pathetic.
