Why Spirituality Matters

Halloween’s almost here so let’s get mystical and talk about spirituality. Spirituality is a hugely encompassing word and can mean so much especially within the health & wellness community. For me, spirituality is connecting to something greater than yourself. There’s a hope for something bigger than this life. It’s connecting to your true life’s purpose.

That’s why spirituality matters to me.

You could be a spiritual person by looking at the synchronicities in your life and looking for guidance through the way events unfold in your life, different people coming in and out of life and the simple way life moves you forward. Medicine, the way we know it, is firmly rooted in science. Yet, it still coexists with spirituality. Rituals, herbs, spices, elixirs and tonics all look closely at spirituality and a belief in a higher being or force but it is rooted in science foundations. In spirituality, we work with balancing our inner energetic levels based on the proven theory the everything has energy.

So, Philosophie family, I encourage all to take the time and cultivate a spiritual practice. It doesn’t have to be prayers and rituals. It can be as simple as slowing down your breath, closing your eyes, focusing deep within and trusting your intuition.

One way to tap into your intuition is quieting your thoughts, through meditation, in order for your intuition to emerge. Set the space and light some Palo Santo for energy clearing, light some candles and maybe use some crystals. Usually, thoughts enter our mind—and we are thinking thousands and thousands of thoughts a day, some conscious and some subconscious. When the thoughts are ready to leave, they leave. So the thoughts are actually in control of our minds rather than vice versa. By quieting our thoughts, we take back control and tune in to what our soul + mind seeks. We tune in to the divine purpose of our being.

Tap into your intuition, it knows where it wants to lead you in this life. Follow your heart because that is why you are here. Follow your mind because it is the pathway to a rewarding and meaningful life. And last but not least, follow your inner being so you can show your loved ones how to follow theirs.
