Must-Haves for Newborns

It’s been about a week since little Noa has come earthside and I’m falling more in love every day, every moment, and every second. It’s been an exhausting week but have been way more prepared this time around. It has seriously changed everything!

I'm already a very minimalistic person and don't like a lot of clutter in my life. The more I simplify and reduce excess, the less I want. As we prepared for baby #3, it was very clear that I only wanted what we actually need.

This is my must-have list, followed by some helpful bonus, but not imperative items.

MUST-HAVE BABY CLOTHES:

6-10 Onesies (Do a mix of short sleeved and long sleeved, some with feet, some without - I got most of them from Target or hand-me-downs from Kai and Leo)

1-2 Two Piece Outfits

3-4 Onesies w/ an Elastic Bottom

1-3 Hats (The hospital will give you one in case you forget! I bought one from Target)

2-3 pairs Socks/Booties

MUST-HAVE BABY LINENS:

2-3 Organic Fitted Sheets (crib/bassinet/moses basket)

2 Mattress Pads

2 Blankets (For car seat or stroller - swaddles are great!)

1-2 Baby Towels (I like the ones with hoods)

2-3 Washcloths (I like Aden + Anis for all washcloths, towels and swaddles)

1-2 packs Disposable Diapers (If doing cloth - newborn size)

2-5 dozen Cloth Diapers or All-In-Ones (if you're using- I'm doing luludew)

2-3 Swaddles (Aden + Anis)

MUST-HAVE BABY BATHROOM:

Baby Soap/Bath Liquid (something very gentle)

Baby Shampoo

Baby Oil or Lotion

Baby Scissors or Clippers (Honestly, I bit Kai and Leos’ nails in the beginning because I was so terrified to put something sharp on their fingers)

Baby Brush (they give you one in the hospital that's just fine)

Diaper Rash Cream

Thermometer (I like the forehead ones)

Baby Sunscreen

MUST-HAVE BABY FEEDING:

4 4oz Bottles + 6-8 8oz Bottles (If you're bottle feeding)

Formula (If you're doing formula - I like Earth's best organic gentle formula)

4-6 8oz bottles (If you’re breastfeeding)

Breast pump (If you’re breastfeeding - I like willow brand)

Bags (To store breastmilk)

5-7 Pacifiers (If using - I like soothies)

BABY OUTING GEAR:

Carseat (we decided on this Nuna which has an infant insert and ability to go forward facing at age 2, another option is to just get an infant car seat)

Diaper Bag

Baby Carrier/Sling (we are using a ergo carrier and sakura bloom sling)

Stroller (we have a Joolz)

BABY NURSERY GEAR:

Crib (use code “SOPHIEJAFFE” to save 15% discount on any order from Micuna)

Crib Mattress (I have a nook and love it!)

Bassinet or Moses Basket (I love Plum + Sparrow)

Changing Space (I'm using Plum + Sparrow changing basket because we change on the floor a lot and can also put it on a dresser that's low enough)

Diaper Pail

Rocking Chair or Glider (Ours is from babyletto)

Baby Monitor (Ours is Miku - it's the best!)

Lounger (We love this one from Snuggle Me Organic)

BONUS:

Jogging Stroller

Crystal (In nursery)

Swing

Night Light

Sound Machine (For white noise)

Baby Tub

When little babe is older I like to have these items on hand...

High chair (We have a micuna brand I'm excited about, use code “SOPHIEJAFFE” to save 15% discount on any order from them)

Toys for development (we're fans of Lovevery and their baby mat! - read more here)

Hi Nicole!

Some great crystals for a nursery are: Celestite, Blue Lace Agate, Rose Quartz. I had a large Apophyllite crystal in Noa’s nursery as it was a gift and is a gentle healing crystal. Anything you feel drawn to is perfect!
