Sophie's Six Tips for Journaling
1) Put a Journal by Your Bed
As soon as you wake up, freewrite in the journal that's right next to you. you can jot down dreams, thoughts, intentions for the day. You can also journal before bed, jotting down what you are grateful for.
2) Don't Take Journaling Too Seriously
Freewrite. Scribble. Color. Flow. This is a safe place where you don't need to impress anyone because nobody is reading this but YOU.
3) Light a Candle
This will set the mood and make this practice feel more sacred. Dim the lights.
4) Remember: THERE ARE NO RULES!
Give yourself permission to let go of rules and be FREE.
5) Be Fully Vulnerable and Fully Truthful
This is a place to grow and have zero worries and give no shits. This is your place to unwind and disconnect about the world and their thoughts or perceptions. This is YOUR world.
6) Keep a Small Notebook in Your Purse
This is a great way to jot down feelings and thoughts as they come up even when you’re on-the-go. There are so many times throughout the day that you can find yourself wasting time. Mindlessly scrolling on Instagram, staring off into space, reading magazines...the next time you’re in the waiting room at your doctor’s office, commuting on the subway, or waiting at the carwash--journal.
Physically writing out your feelings, what you are grateful for, what you ant to work on, etc. is a great way to open yourself up to the path of a more vulnerable and expansive life. Another benefit of journaling is that you have tangible proof of your thoughts and feelings, and you can really measure out your mental progress over time. By coloring in their coloring books, Kai+Leo "journal" all day without even realizing it. Bring out your inner child and start journaling! Journaling is a way to manifest your dreams in writing.

Brilliant. This gives me new ideas. I’ve been keeping an art notebook in which there is absolutely no organization and I just love the utter freedom it brings me but I love words too so I will give it a go! Thankss!
Dear Sophie,
Your suggestions really support my mental and physical health. I am grateful for YOU! Do you have any favorite journals that inspire you?
Thanks, Sherrie
I LOVED reading this. I’ve been thinking a lot about journaling or at least having a nice notebook with me to write intentions and thoughts down whenever they come into mind. Thank you so much. This article came at the right time and motivates me to start a journal myself now!
By the way, what is it for a kind of notebook you’re using in the upper picture?
♥
Where’d you get the cute journal in the picture?
