Healthy Cooking as a Family
I partnered with Kohl's for this post - they provided me these products but all opinions are my own. I only share products that I generally love to my readers.
This Rice Cooker is such a staple for the Jaffe kitchen. There’s something about rice cooked in a rice cooker instead of the stovetop. It’s just SO yummy! You can really taste the difference + it takes way less time to make! Now that I have a rice cooker, I feel way more encouraged to make my own rice instead of relying on store-bought frozen rice (which is just way more expensive). The kids also love it because they can “make” the rice themselves. I like to have them be a part of the cooking process so they feel included + I can share my love of food and cooking with them. They also feel really accomplished and self-sufficient when they feel like they are making something all by themselves.
I love the pop of color that my Red Ceramic Skillet adds to the kitchen! It’s really sturdy + super easy to clean (a MUST in my book!). The lid also prevents splatters from going all over the stove which is awesome. It’s pretty deep so I can make a lot of food in it! I use it for pretty much everything, but I love stir-frying veggies to go on top of the rice that I cook in the rice cooker. Adding quality protein like tempeh or a fried egg makes it a complete and balanced meal!!
Gather This:
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 cup spinach
- ½ cup black beans
- 1 tbsp liquid aminos
- 1 tbsp tahini
- veggies of your choice (broccoli, snap peas, bell pepper, etc).
- 1 cup cooked brown rice
Do This:
- Cook the rice in your rice cooker as per the instructions. I like to make a lot at a time to feed the whole family and to have extra for the next following days
- Stir fry your veggies in the coconut oil in the skillet over low to medium heat. Season as you wish with pink salt, pepper, green dream, nori, or any other spices you may desire
- Fry your egg over low heat
- Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl and dress with liquid aminos and tahini to dress
