Family Vegan Dinner at Real Food Daily
The fam and I went out to dinner at Real Food Daily and everyone was SO happy. When cooked right, kids can LOVE vegan food!
Kai enjoyed a macrobiotic dish of roasted veggies, brown rice, and black beans, while Leo had seitan fingers and veggies. To drink, they both had green juice created with apple, kale, spinach, and cucumber.
Neither of them complained for a moment or even noticed anything was missing! The key is allowing them to completely pick which foods they want, and I always watch closely to see what their bodies naturally gravitate towards.
.
For example, I've noticed that Kai eats more like me and thrives on plant-based food, while Leo needs more eggs and heartier foods.
.
It's essential to understand that we are all unique and we each have different metabolisms, caloric needs, digestive systems, and blood types.
During dinner, I talked with Kai more about what it means to be vegan and eat a plant-based diet. I hope to always give my children the space to make the right decisions for their own beings and not judge their needs based solely on another's
—in food, politics, religion, and all things in between :)

Oooh! I agree with you about teaching children not to be too radical with food, etc. I have a mixed family of Sicilian-in the seafood industry and Israeli-Eastern European Kosher! Pepper that all with vegan/vegetarian! We are always striving to get along, because in a strange way food connects us and also can break us apart. Moderation and understanding is the key!
I love your work! Thank you so much Wise Sophia!
