A Day of Eating with Sophie

A Day of Eating with Sophie

that we've entered a time when healthy eating no longer means a wilted iceberg lettuce salad. I like to define healthy eating as creating beautiful, wholesome foods that you actually look forward to + completely S A V OR. For those of you may be curious or would like a bit of guidance in your healthy eating habits, I thought I'd share the eats + drinks that keep me energized throughout the day!

Water Wake Up

The moment I wake up, I sip on a glass of warm water with a slice of fresh lemon. After a long night of sleep, your body needs to hydrate and flush out the digestive system, which the burst of citrus helps to stimulate.

Breakfast

Smoothies are my daily oasis of protein, fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and YUMMINESS! I love tossing fruits, leafy greens, coconut waters and nut milks, + Philosophie superfoods into a blender and having a filling, energizing smoothie ready in 5 minutes (this Summer Peach Smoothie is currently one of my go-tos). Be sure to subscribe to the Philosophie Youtube Channel for a new smoothie recipe every Monday!

Lunch

All it takes is a Superfood Salad to replenish my body after a hard sweat sesh! I toss up my salads with dark leafy greens, gut-friendly fermented foods, omega-packed nuts and seeds, sprouted brown rice or quinoa, a superfood dressing, and some berries or citrus slices for a touch of sweetness.

Snack

To beat the salt munchies, I’ll munch on a handful of almonds and pop up a bowl of popcorn on the stove with coconut oil and then mix up my very own Superfood Popcorn with Green Dream. When I’m having more of a sugar tooth, I’ll make a nutrient-dense seasoning with Cacao Magic or Berry Bliss. And since the kiddies love all three, sometimes we’ll have 3 bowls of Popcorn Dream, Popcorn Magic, + Popcorn Bliss since they’re so easy to make!

Dinner

I love serving up a generous portion of zucchini noodles with a homemade garlic-basil pesto sauce or I’ll make wild salmon with a delicious sweet glaze and eat it with grains and a side of whatever veggies are in season.

Dessert

I always get hit with chocolate cravings so this divine, nutrient-packed Chocolate Chia Seed Pudding is one of my faves! And since it takes the same amount of energy as making a smoothie (+30 minutes of cooling down in the fridge, while I catch up on my Netflix queue), I’m ready to whip this up even after it’s been a long day—it’s THAT good and THAT easy.

Adrienne I was actually relieved to read your post I struggle terribly with this same issue! It absolutely holds us back from reaching goals both mentally and physically! I too think it’s stress related bc I notice on days where you can’t seem to even take a breath you get to the evening and it’s like FINALLY! I can eat ( and eat garbage would never even consider during day) …. I think it must be like a soothing action and probably releasing dopamine!! I am working on finding different teas, read a lot, Dvr shows I really like, that are funny, it is a work in progress! I will go a couple days and feel so proud the next am and I am really trying to focus on that feeling vs the guilt and condemnation that always comes from overeating … not sure that helps you at all…. seems if you can break the cycle even a couple times a week to start or even one day and get that positive feeling when you wake up is a great star! Not sure that helps?….I see that post is from last year, How are you now? If figured it out PLEASE share! Would love ❤️ to hear your thoughts!!! Have an awesome day!!!

Diane

I have the problem where I can do pretty well eating healthy throughout the day and then in the evening I end up eating garbage, even though I’m not hungry. Sometimes I think it might be hormonal related since I don’t have the urge to do it regularly, but I still feel bad about myself when I do it. Who knows, it might be stress related from work too because I don’t do this on days that I don’t work. I want to stop it once and for all. Do you have any tips that might help me achieve that?

Adrienne
