Cacao Magic Donuts Recipe

Cacao Magic Donuts Recipe

Happy National Donut Day!!! If you're like me, and LOVE donuts, but not the lethargy + guilt that comes after eating them, I've got the perfect recipe for you! Bake up a batch of these paleo, gluten-free Cacao Magic donuts—they're wonderfully light, packed with protein and fiber, + are won't overwhelm your body with a crazy sugar rush!

Cacao MagicCacao Bee, and coconut flour, which creates a super fluffy texture and adds in extra fiber + protein, are the star ingredients in these superfood confectionaries. Cacao is naturally energizing, as it contains a stimulant called theobromine that gradually releases energy throughout the day, instead of creating the same sort of energy spike as caffeine.

And these little donuts are super easy to make—simply blend up all the ingredients, pour the batter into your donut iron, and voila! You'll have beautiful, superfood donuts that taste (+look!) delightful dressed up in coconut butter frosting + superfood toppings!

Gather This:
For Donuts:

For Frosting:

For Toppings:

  • bee pollen
  • goji berries
  • cacao nibs
  • whatever superfoods you love!

Do This:
Mix all ingredients in the blender. Spray coconut oil spray on the donut iron and add the batter, filling about 1/4" under the top. Remove and let cool before decorating. (if you do not have this iron, you can purchase a donut mold and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until the donuts have set. Test with a toothpick if you aren't sure!)
.
Melt the coconut butter until you have the desired amount of frosting. Frost your donuts + sprinkle on your toppings of choice.

I just made these this morning and love them! I tried my favorite topping of cinnamon and sugar but the cake-like texture of these, I think, calls for more of frosting topping. Heck, I’m also loving them plain. Thanks for the inspiration!

P.S. I write a blog for my family and friends… today’s post was about my love of Philosophie. Check it out if you’d like here: www.savagec.wordpress.com
